Torix and Constantine
Israel "Izzy" Valentine
The brothers van Rijn came to know Izzy through Vincent Violet. Valentine was their connection into the book club. He gave them the assignment to work as bodyguards for Acadiem Bardeaux, which turned out to be one hell of an assignment. After delivering Jack van Dam to Vincent Violet, they went back to Valentine to deliver a book that Violent had given them. They didn’t know exactly what was in the book, but it gave Mr. Valentine the distinct impression that the van Rijns and Bardeaux were working for the night watch. Bardeaux tried to talk some sense into Valentine, who, as a compromise, said he would have to take them to the librarian. He meant to do this by force, and the brothers and Bardeaux decided to fight their way out of the library. They succeeded, but returned later to discuss the recent disappearance of Vincent Violet. There was a large crowd in front of library, which had gathered because of a crime scene. The brothers and Bardeaux pushed their way to the front to find that Jack van Dam had been killed, and that the city guard was taking Izzy Valentine into custody as the chief suspect. When the Kaiser declared martial law the van Rijns and Bardeaux were taken into custody by the guard. They were put into three distinct cells but recognized someone that was in their cell block, it was Valentine. He spoke a few words from his cell and seemed glad that the Kaiser had declared martial law. The brothers knew where his alliegances fell. He said he had an escape plan. He then had Constantine draw the guards toward his cell, he slashed the eyes of two of the guards with a shiv as he shouted “Death to the Kaiser!” He then reached into his jacket and was engulfed in an explosion. His sacrifice knocked down the cell walls of Torix, Constantine and Bardeaux. However, being in the cell next to him Torix took the brunt of the explosion. “Not even a Phoenix could rise from those ashes.” Constantine thought. To what degree he was involved in the mysterious organization is lost.
